5 Ways to Add some Edge to your Look!

Fall fashion is a favourite of many, and here at The Menswear Club, we wanted to curate an extra special parcel to assist in some darker fall fashion choices. We also thought that some may benefit on some tips on how to add a little bit of edge into your look. Now, being edgy for the sake of being edgy, isn't what we’re aiming for here. We just want to give you guys 5 ideas and tips on how to spruce up your look, and get a little more daring in some fashion choices.

1: When in doubt - Murdered out:

Black is not only a colour that helps slim down some of our more portly fellows, but it also is a colour (or shade, whichever you’d prefer) that says something about a man. Maybe he’s mysterious, maybe he’s understated and has no need for colours, or maybe he’s just a fan of keeping it simple. Whatever the reason, mixing some dark colours into your fashion choices usually suggests a more complex mind with a little bit of melancholy. If you’re into a more reserved look, dressing like Johnny Cash won’t be out of the ordinary. But if you’re usually wearing big bold colours, switching up your look and integrating some black could be a nice change of pace, and make it seem like there’s more than meets the eye.

2: Skulls are cool, didn't you know?

I’m not saying that the more skulls you can wear in one setting, the cooler you’ll be. I am saying adding a little skull accent here and there creates an edgier look, and makes you stand out from the other blokes in the crowd. While everyone is wearing the same style tie that they found on sale at a department store, you’ll be able to make use of the Frederick Thomas Skull Tie included in this month’s parcel, and immediately differentiate yourself from the group. The skull tie is a great addition to the October parcel, and it is a guaranteed conversation piece. Just don’t wear it to a funeral… it may send the wrong message.

3: Get the Right Kicks:

Footwear is a great place to start when expressing an edgier side to your fashion choices. Instead of going with dress shoes every day, try throwing on a pair of flat bottom sneakers. Vans and Chuck Taylors have a timeless look, and have been a staple spanning many different age groups. You can get yourself a pair for pretty cheap, and they offer an edgier look than a pair of “stuffy” dress shoes. Nothing beats a new or old pair of sneakers.

4: Throw out that Razor:

Having a beard is quite trendy right now, and it may seem like everyone has a ZZ Top style of beard. Although you may think it is cliche, having a little scruff or a full on beard does make a man look a little rough around the edges. This is a good thing if you’re looking to be a little edgy. Beards are back, and they are socially acceptable again. That being said, if you are someone who constantly is clean shaven, growing out some facial hair will drastically change your look, and it is usually the first thing a person will notice about you. Side note: Girls love ‘em - even though they might tell you otherwise!

5: Get a Stylish Watch, Dummy:

For the life of me, I will never understand why I see so many men walking around the city not wearing a timepiece. Look, we’re all modern men here, and we like our technology, but there is no reason for us to go digging around in our pockets like caveman for a phone when we are asked the time. Get a nice black analog watch, there are tons of nice watch manufacturers that have a great selection. How could a black watch face not go well with any outfit really? But seriously, no more people using their phones to check the time!

If you found any of these tips useful, give them a try and see what kind of response you get. Adding a little edge can be a good thing, and there’s no better time than today. Instagram your fashion choices of the day, and show us how you are using TMC parcel. We love creativity, and we love seeing our members improve their look.
